Frequently Asked Questions.

What Are the Fees for Therapy Sessions?

At Serenity Therapy and Counseling we strive to provide the best possible therapy services in San Diego at an affordable rate. Our rates vary between $175 to $200 per session, dependent on whether you are seeking individualized help or couples therapy. Find out more information HERE.

Do You Accept Insurance?

Unfortunately, Serenity Therapy and Counseling does not accept insurance. To get out of network PPO insurance coverage for therapy sessions, it is essential to review your policy details, contact your insurance provider to understand their reimbursement policy for out of network care, and utilize your out of network benefits. Most PPO insurance plans will cover a portion of services out-of-network and we can provide a receipt for services including all the information needed to file a claim.

Where Are You Located?

Serenity Therapy and Counseling is located at 2525 Camino Del Rio S, Suite 305, San Diego, CA 92108. The building is centrally located off of Camino Del Rio South nearby the Mission Valley Mall. Once within the complex, we are located on the third floor. Find out more information HERE.

How do I know if therapy is right for me?

Therapy can benefit anyone who is experiencing emotional difficulties, struggling with relationships, facing major life transitions, or seeking personal growth. If you are feeling overwhelmed, anxious, depressed, or just in need of support, therapy could be the answer needed to help live a more balanced life.

Is Therapy Confidential?

Yes, therapy is strictly confidential. Therapists are bound by professional ethics and legal regulations that protect your privacy. Information shared in therapy sessions remains confidential, with few exceptions such as imminent danger to oneself or others or when required by law.

How Long Does Therapy Last?

The duration of therapy varies depending on several factors, such as the nature of the issue, individual progress, and personal goals. Some people may find relief and achieve their desired outcomes in a few sessions, while others may engage in longer-term therapy for more complex concerns. Initially, weekly or bi-weekly sessions may be recommended to establish a therapeutic relationship and work towards identified goals. Later, sessions can be spaced out as progress is made.

What Happens In the First Therapy Session?

Our first therapy session, often referred to as an intake session, is an opportunity for us to gather information about you, your concerns, and your goals. We typically ask questions about your past and present experiences, mental health history, and any factors contributing to your current difficulties. Once we have background knowledge around your difficulties and have an established course of action, we can begin untangling your concerns one issue at a time to create a more peaceful life.

How Long Is Each Therapy Session?

Therapy sessions for both individual therapy and couples therapy last 50 minutes.

What is Your Cancellation Policy?

A minimum of 24 hours notice is required for canceling or rescheduling an appointment. The full fee will be charged for appointments that are missed, canceled or rescheduled without 24 hours notice.
